Letter, 1842 August 2, House of Representatives to Penelope D. Goodwin, Baltimore, Maryland [manuscript].

Pendleton writes to Goodwin regretting his inability to assist her in obtaining an appointment to West Point for her son. He suggests that she contact [James Wray] Williams, representative for her district, for assistance. "In regard to the Navy" he indicates that Maryland has had too many appointees and no more will be made until other states "have their share."
