The collection contains the committee's statement of purpose, bylaws, minutes, reports, and correspondence. Also included are copies of the Fair Housing Committee Newsletter (Charlottesville, Va.) and clippings concerning open housing activities and community responses. Topics include Good Neighbor Pledge Campaigns, conducted through local churches, panel discussions with realtors, a proposed open housing ordinance and non-discriminatory real estate listings. Of interest is an open housing study conducted among Charlottesville real estate agents. In addition to information concerning housing for Afro-Americans in Charlottesville, the collection contains items relating to other aspects of race relations and to church social programs within the city. Also included are communications and clippings from national organizations concerned with open housing, including the American Friends Service Committee, and from open housing organizations in neighboring states.
