Stephen Crane was a novelist, poet, and journalst. He was born November 1, 1871, at 14 Mulberry Place, Newark, New Jersey. Crane is best known for his novel The Red Badge of Courage (1895) that depicted the experiences of a soldier in the Civil War. During the Spanish-American War (1898), Crame served as a correspondent.
