Letters of William Dean Howells [manuscript], 1874-1915.

In a letter, 1874 November 11, Howells, Cambridge, Massachusetts, writes to Henry W. Longfellow re the latter's poem "Il ponte vecchio di Firenze" which he intends to publish in "The Atlantic monthly" and mentioning three books he is sending to Miss Longfellow. In a letter, 1910 May 20, Howells writes to Nina Ranger Herzog that "it will be sweet to know you are living in my house." In a letter, 1915 March 15, Howells, St. Augustine, Florida, writes to Herzog thanking her for tickets for a performance of his plays. [Bayard?] Taylor is mentioned.
