Papers of William Harwood Peden [manuscript], 1935-1968.

Collection consists chiefly of Peden's correspondence, 1942-1954, re his edition of Jefferson's "Notes on the state of Virginia." Also included are Peden's notes; a prospectus and drafts of his introduction to the work; and a series of letters, 1935-1968, from John Cook Wyllie, including unflattering comments on Dumas Malone. Other correspondents include Charles Barham, Jr., Francis L. Berkeley, Julian P. Boyd, L. H. Butterfield, Lester Jesse Cappon, Verner W. Clapp, Lambert Davis, Luther P. Eisenhart, E. Millicent Sowerby, and Coolie Verner.

Luther P. (Pfahler) Eisenhart taught mathematics at Princeton and was one of the original preceptors appointed in 1905 by Princeton University president Woodrow Wilson.
