Napoleonic period scenes. ca. 1815-1880.

Consists mainly of engravings depicting political events, most of them focussing on Napoleon himself. Subjects include the proclaiming of Napoleon as emperor of France, the Congress of Vienna, Napoleon receiving an Austrian minister at Erfurt, the baptism of Napoleon's son in March of 1811, Porto Ferrajo on the island of Elba, Napoleon's return from Elba, Napoleon in exile on St. Helena, his death, his funeral, and his grave. Many items are anonymous. Named artists: A. Sandoz, Raffet, W.M. Craig, Jacques Louis David, Charpentier, C. Dusaulchoy, Carle Vernet, Ponce Camus, Philippoteaux, Gosse, Horace Vernet, H.
