Ivan Kaliuznu collection, 1919-1934.

Ivan Kaliuznu was a Russian trained artist and bookbinder. The collection includes an English New Testament bound in full leather with raised pictorial images of the crucifixion and the four writers of the Gospels in a Byzantine style of iconography. Also included are letters from Kaliuznu and his wife and portraits of George Lezerev and Catherine Breshkovsky who presented this New Testament to Irene Dietrich. The New Testament was printed by Eyre and Spottiswoode, London and lacks t.-p.
