Professor of Linguistics, Emeritus, Cornell University. Cornell Ph.D. 1958 and appointment as faculty in linguistics the same year. Profess Leed succeeded Gerald B. Kelley as chairman of the Department of Modern Languages and Lingistics in 1977.
