Paul Betz collection of Wordsworth and Wordsworth circle materials, 1811-1836.

Items donated on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition include: a portrait of Benjamin Robert Haydon engraved by Thomas Landseer in 1831; an 1821 Coleridge manuscript "mementoes for young Snout;" an album of Mary Elizabeth Monkhouse containing forty-eight poems; an oil painting by Reverend Thomas James Judkin presented to Wordsworth in 1836; an 1811 letter of Robert Southey to John Murray; and an 1829 proof of "the Enraptured Poet" by H. Richter engraved by I.G. Murray.

Paul F. Betz received his BA from La Salle College before coming to Cornell's Department of English for his MA ('63) and Ph.D ('65). Betz's research was focused on the Romantic period. Betz' edition Benjamin the Waggoner by William Wordsworth was published by the Cornell University Press in 1981 and reissed in 1988.
