Sociologist, photographer. Joseph Mayone Stycos received a B.A. from Princeton University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. After serving as one of the first Population Council Fellows (1954-55), he came to Cornell in 1957. In 1962, he founded the International Population Program, which he directed until 1992.
