U. S. Grant letter: to Col. Montagu, 1863 Dec. 22.

Letter of recommendation for a Mr. Burbridge, "a loyal citizen of Kentucky and brother of Brig. Gen. Burbridge of our service." The brigadier general referred to may have been Stephen G. Burbridge. This letter was written from the headquarters of the Military Division of the Mississippi [?] in Nashville, Tenn., and is addressed to Col. Montagu, Commissioner of Plantations.
