Margaret Brock Hanson papers, 1884-1981.

The Margaret Brock Hanson collection contains a typewritten story about Edward Burnett, an Englishman who settled in Johnson County, Wyoming, and the genealogical history of the Thom and Brock families. There is also a series of photographs, taken in Wyoming between 1884 and 1887. Content of the photographs includes: the Powder River, ranchers, wagons, and cowboys.

Margaret Brock Hanson was a rancher near Kaycee, Wyoming who later in life wrote on the history of Wyoming, using for material the collections and papers of her father, J. Elmer Brock. She published "Powder River Country: the Papers of J. Elmer Brock" in 1981 and "Frank Grouard, Army Scout: True Adventures in the Early West" in 1983. J. Elmer Brock (1882-1954) was born in Missouri and operated the Brock Live Stock Company near Kaycee, Wyoming.
