Horatio N. Maguire papers, 1867-1900.

Horatio Maguire (b. 1837) was a Bozeman, Montana, newspaper publisher and editor. Papers consist of a warranty deed (October 11, 1867) to William McClatchy for a piece of Helena real estate; and a biographical sketch about Maguire reprinted in a Bozeman newspaper from the Anaconda Standard (August 12, 1900). Horatio Maguire was born in Kentucky in 1837 and raised in Ohio, where he learned the printer's trade. Most of his life he moved frequently, working for newspapers in Detroit, Salt Lake City, Portland, Oregon, Bozeman, and many other places, both as a printer and as a publisher.
