Vanguard Press files related to the distribution rights for THE 500 HATS OF BARTHOLOMEW CUBBINS and AND TO THINK THAT I SAW IT ON MULBERRY STREET by Dr. Seuss. Largely a correspondence (1968-1985) between Vanguard Press and Grolier Enterprises Inc., the files also contain material related to publication offers by Scholastic Magazines Inc. and Bantam Books Inc. The files include copies of the original contracts (1937-1938) between Theodor Seuss Geisel and Vanguard Press, drafts of agreements and contracts with Grolier Enterprises, agreements amended by Geisel, notes and memoranda for telephone contracts, and royalty reports.
