Seymour Krim letters to Diane di Prima, 1962-1965.

The collection contains two letters. Krim writes to Diane [di Palma], 17 Jan. 1962, rejecting a story she has submitted to Nugget magazine called "A couple of weekends;" and to Diane [di Palma], 1 Mar. 1965, asking why he was snubbed and saying that his "Sick Chick" anthology is still in the works and that he still plans on using one of her pieces in it. Both letters are typescript on the Nugget magazine letterhead.

Diane Di Prima was born on 6 August 1934 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She attended Swarthmore College, but dropped out in 1953 to move to Manhattan and become a writer. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, she joined the emerging Beat movement. She was the editor of the newsletter The Floating Bear with LeRoi Jones, 1961-1969. Seymour Krim was born in New York City. After a year at the University of North Carolina, he returned to New York and began writing reviews and literary essays. Later he edited several magazines featuring modern poetry. His best known work was The beats (1960), a study of contemporary poets.
