Joyce Kilmer letter to Miss Colson, 1917 [i.e., 1918] Jan. 13.

Kilmer writes to Miss [Edith N.] Colson, 13 Jan. 1917, thanking her for sending a clipping of her kind review, acknowledging he had written little poetry during the war, and promising to write much verse for her when the war is over. The date 1917 is incorrect; the United States did not enter the war until March, 1917, so it is likely that the letter should be dated 1918. Kilmer misread her name as Edith N.; the editor was Ethel M. Colson.
