Autograph letter from William Carstares to his cousin [manuscript], 1690s?

Acknowledging receipt of a letter from his cousin, the substance of which was communicated to "35." Carstares is sorry to find the recipient's "circumstances so perplexing ... but I can not bring my selfe to give my consent to your goeing though I dare not be positive in adviseing to stay." Carstares and Ormiston are in agreement about this matter. Mentions also letters sent by Carstares to the Duke of Hamilton and Lord Melville, and enclosed news (no longer present). Endorsed: "That Ormiestomes [incl]inationes and his are the sa[m]e" [text partially obliterated].
