Friendship Baptist Church collection, 1950-2005.

Collection of material relating to the Friendship Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. The collection includes information on the church's 1950s expansion plans and on historic preservation efforts some 50 years later. Included are newspaper clippings (1950-2005) from various newspapers (New Pittsburgh Courier and Washington Afro-American [photocopies], Washington City Paper, Capital Community News, The Southwester, and Hill Rag; minutes of a District of Columbia advisory neighborhood commission (2004-2005); and DC Preservation League newsletter (Autumn 2002). Also includes information about church leaders, Rev. R.S. Laws (founder) and Rev. Benjamin Harrison Whiting (1889-1980), pastor from 1927 to 1980.
