General description of the collection: This report is from the Deputy of Intelligence, United States Air Force (USAF) and is a translation of a pamphlet written by Mao Tse-Tung, entitled "Strategies in guerrilla warfare". The first edition was supposedly written during the conflict between Japan and China and had no bearing on the conflict in Korea. This is a translation of the 1949 edition (2nd). The pamphlet covers the significance of guerrilla strategies, the methods for applying the anti-Japanese war to guerrilla warfare, and the six strategies of anti-Japanese guerrilla warfare. The six strategies are a well planned and flexible offensive in a defensive war, coordinate guerrilla tactics with the regular war, set up bases, strategic defense and offense in guerrilla warfare, development towards a war of movement, and qualified commanders.
