The William F. Dunne Photograph Collection consists of 22 photographs, primarily views of U.S. military installations in the Aleutian Islands (Adak?) during World War II. Images also include two interior views of a mess hall and several view of general scenery. Also found in the collection are five color reproductions of artwork by Jack Zifkin depicting scenes from the daily life of U.S. military personnel at the Adak, Alaska, base in 1945, and biographical information on William F. Dunne.

William Francis Dunne (1887-1953) was a labor organizer, politician, editor, and Communist Party activist for most of his life. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he worked as an electrician and was active in various unions. He joined the Socialist Party in 1910. With the outbreak of World War II, Dunne worked in war related industries and shipyards. From 1944 until the beginning of 1946, he found work as a navy cook in the Aleutian Islands.
