Harvey J. Charlton has been a professor of mathematics at North Carolina State University. Ross Edward Shumaker was an architect and a professor at North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (1920-1955). He began the architecture program there, and he designed several buildings on campus. Owen F. Smith has been an architect based in Raleigh.
