Aldous Huxley letters and pamphlet, 1939-1970.

The collection contains two letters. Huxley writes to Mr. [Alan] Hancox, bookseller in Cheltenham, England, 22 May 1949, answering a query about his publications; and to Colonel [Mark H.] Vinzant, 16 Oct. 1960, declining an invitation to speak at the War College because he will be out of the country and suggesting Professor Harrison Brown of Caltech as the best qualified to talk about the future, mentioning some of Brown's books. Both letters include their original envelopes. The collection also contains a pamphlet entitled Beyond the swarm, by Aldous Huxley ([4] p. ; 21 cm.). "Of this excerpt from Aldous Huxley's forthcoming novel, 'After many a summer,' 300 copies have been printed by permission of the author for the friends of Josephine, Judith and Jake Zeitlin by Ward Ritchie Press, Los Angeles, December, 1939."--Cf. p.
