The original campus plans for the University of Florida at Gainesville were developed by the firm of Edwards & Walter. Edwards & Walter were contracted to design and layout the campus buildings in 1905. Additional plans were developed by the firm's successor, Edward and Sayward. Kappa Epsilon was organized in 1921 as a national professional society for women pharmacy students. The University of Florida chapter was organized in the fall of 1936 and received its charter in 1939. It was the first recognized women's student organization on campus.
