Edward J Wormley and Edward Crouse papers, 1831-1997, 1907-1997.

The collection documents Wormley and Crouse's 52 year relationship, which started in 1919 as a friendship and later became a romantic and sexual relationship that survived years apart, including during World War II while Crouse served in the military. Included are correspondence between Wormley and Crouse, 1926-1945; letters from relatives, friends, and colleagues, 1920's-1990's; original photographs of Wormley and Crouse as well as their relatives, friends, and colleagues; personal diaries and calendars; and scrapbooks filled with mementos from their travel in Europe. Also documented are Wormley's design-related activities, through correspondence and other documents involving colleagues (T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, Edgar Kaufmann, Walter D. Teague, Gertrud and Otto Natzler, and Jack Lenor Larsen); business papers; floor and garden plans, fabric samples, etc. Other highlights include files relating to architecture, design, theater, travel and other subjects; family papers; and tax records.
