Collection of manuscripts and typescripts centering on Tengyueh (now Tengchong), but covering the entire southwest of Yunnan including 7 manuscript maps (1 large folding) on thin tracing paper; one large folding lithograph map; 56 pp. manuscript and 24 pp. typescript itineraries. Most of the manuscripts are written on official blindstamped British Consulate paper. The first itineraries record Gill's progress from Tali (now called Dali) to Tengyueh, together with 4 manuscript maps. The second batch includes a two-page memo of trading between Tengyueh and Bhamo, and a large "Map of proposed Bhamo to Tengyueh Road," 1908. The third part of the collection is composed of various surveys undertaken around Tengyueh between 1906 and 1908, recording distance, time travelled, boiling point, temperature, altitude, as well as remarks on special features of towns, villages, temples, and the countryside. The fourth part comprises 4 large folding cross-sectional diagrams showing changes in altitude between Luchou (Yangtze) and Hsüanwei (Hsüan-wei hsien, now Xuanwei Xian), Hsüanwei and Yunnan-fu, Yunnan-fu and Tengyueh, as well as between Mengtze and the Pose River (southern Yunnan). All place names are given in Chinese characters.
