One small scene on Simon Fraser University was removed from this copy. Looking South. A CBC production filmed in 1975 and telecast in 1976. A tribute to the United States during their bi-centenary. Directed by Richard Gilbert with Larry Solway as on-camera host and interviewer. Includes scene with John Portman shot in the lobby of the Atlanta Hyatt Hotel which he designed, and scene in the Church of Martin Luther King. Suburban living: six solutions. National Film Board of Canada production for CBC TV, filmed in 1959 and telecast in 1960. Written and directed by Richard Gilbert. Examines solutions to the problems of designing suburbs in six neighbourhoods, five abroad and one in North America. Shows homes and community areas, and notes importance of aesthetic considerations. Considers developments in England, at Harlow New Town, and the Alton Estate L.C.C., the Unité d'Habitation by Le Corbusier in Marseille, Pendrecht, Holland, Vallingby, Sweden and the Don Mills development in Ontario. Where it all began. CBC production shot in 1975 as tribute to the bi-centenary of the United States. Directed by Richard Gilbert with Larry Solway as on-camera host. Focuses on historical New England with views of Boston, Newport and Rhode Island architecture.
