Presented on May 17, 2001 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montréal, as the first of three lectures in a series entitled "Réflexions sur John Soane / Reflections on Sir John Soane", held in conjuction with the exhibition "John Soane 1753-1837", on view at the CCA May 16-Sept. 3, 2001.
