Papers of Herbert Harrison Morehouse (Cornell Class of 1889) include a series of letters to his family concerning student life, with reference to freshman-sophomore contests, sports, cider raids, military drill, Bible classes and church services, a Henry George meeting (October 1887), excursions to local scenic places, his class schedules, and readings by Professor Hiram Corson, as well as a letter (1890) from Robert Henry Thurston, congratulating him on his new position in Central America, discussing the present students at Sibley, and expressing the hope that luck with Central American gold mines might enable Morehouse to give Cornell a needed engineering laboratory, a letter (1914) to his family from the White House, where he and two friends were staying as guests of Eleanor Wilson, two essays (1886, 1887) by Morehouse, an expense book (1885-89), and his drawings (2 vols., 1886) for a class in descriptive geometry; papers of Emma Margaret Lang (Cornell Class of 1893), later Mrs. Henry Morehouse, include invitations to dances, a letter (1893) from Walter F. Willcox congratulating her on her approaching marriage and enclosing a photograph of himself, her notes (1887) from Corson's English literature course, a copy of her thesis (1893) "The Tenement Poor of New York City," and her diploma; two letters of thanks from Hiram Corson (1893) to Rosa Christine Lang (Cornell Class of 1892), Emma's sister, and printed materials inscribed by Corson to her.
