Consulting engineer, sales executive. Charles Francis Hendrie enrolled in the Sibley School of Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University in 1915. Early in 1918 he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a Chief Machinist's Mate, remaining at Cornell until called to active duty in October of that year.
