Diaries of Myron Abbott, 1880-1886.

Two volumes containing Myron Abbott's daily diary record from 1880-1886. Abbott includes accounts of his daily activities and family life, and of his work as a miller, farmer, and dam builder in southeastern Nevada. He also includes references to Joseph and Wilmer Earl, Dudley Leavitt, and Stephen and Edward Bunker. Also included in volume II is a 'Family Registry of Stephen and Abigail Abbott' (parents of Myron Abbott). Bound.

Myron Abbott was born in Pike County, Illinois, on December 1, 1837. Abbott's father died in 1843, leaving his mother to care for him and his seven siblings. In 1849 the family traveled in a Mormon company to Salt Lake City. Abbott married Laura Allen, the first of his four wives, at Ogden, Utah, in 1860. In 1879 Abbott and his wives and children were part of Edward Bunker's United Order of Enoch collective Mormon community at Bunkerville, Nevada, which lasted until 1880. At that time Abbott and...
