Samuel Langhorne Clemens miscellany, 1875-1905.

Letters, envelopes, calling cards, and manuscript. Includes a draft of the preface to Mark Twain's Sketches New and Old, dated March 1875 and signed "Mark Twain"; an envelope addressed to novelist W.D. Howells; a letter to Mr. Krueger, dated July 22, 1883, urging him to go to Cornell University and praising Henry William Sage and his wife; a card to S.J. Medill, dated Oct. 2 (no year); a brief letter to Michael Monahan, dated Feb. 4 and postmarked 1905, remarking on the scarcity of copies of "that Elizabeth sketch" (the work "1601," published under the name Mark Twain); and a letter to Mr. Hall, dated Oct. 5, 1885, on financial matters and other printed ephemera.
