Michel Chevalier letters, 1860.

Letter from Paris to Thomas Buchanan, dated July 27, 1860, in which Chevalier tentatively accepts an invitation to attend a September meeting of the Society for the Advancement of Social Science in Glasgow. With this letter is its envelope. Also, letter from Paris to the Provost of the City of Glasgow, dated Sept. 21, 1860, declining a dinner invitation there on the grounds that the negotiation of the commerce agreement has reached a crucial juncture, obliging Chevalier to stay in Paris until it is concluded.
