The original set of Cornell plates was created in 1932, based on a design created by E. Stewart Williams (Class of 1933) for the Baird Prize "Place Plate" artwork competition for Design 112, February 1932. The winning design was used by the Wedgwood Company for a set of twelve plates depicting Cornell scenes.
