Includes diaries (2 vols., 1853-63) kept jointly by Thomas J. McElheny and his wife Adelaide (Ada) Taber, concerning daily activities in Dryden, news of their cousins, the John McGraws, and other relatives and friends, travel within the state, church attendance, and containing many comments on political and social events. Also, correspondence between Thomas and Ada McElheny, their daughters, relatives, and friends (1851-88), a letter (1878) from Jennie McGraw (Fiske) to her cousin Thomas McElheny in Ithaca, describing the scenic beauty of Norway and her travels there, and the rough draft (1878) of a letter from Thomas to her. In addition, compositions (1846) of Ada Taber at Cazenovia Seminary; and a genealogy of the McElheny, Taber, Shaw, Young, and related families, compiled by Mary Shaw Ryan.
