Ralph Hemminger oral history, 1967-1968.

In this interview, Mr. Hemminger discusses his experiences growing sugar beets for the Empire State Sugar Company. Topics include: the cultural practices he adopted; his sources of information about beet production, including discrepancies between recommendations made by the New York State College of Agriculture and by Empire Sugar; integrating sugar beets into his other farm enterprises; and his assessment that sugar beets improved the prices offered by companies contracting for competing crops.
