Henry Stack oral history, 1964.

Henry Stack was the first person to think of developing a sugar beet industry in upstate New York. In this interview, he discusses his impressions of Cayuga County, New York (particularly the city of Auburn) and his ideas for improving the economy of the area. Topics include: his experiences as a farm broker; how he formed the idea of establishing a sugar beet industry in Cayuga County and why he thought it would succeed; his impressions of the New York State College of Agriculture's attitude toward a New York State sugar beet industry; his ideas for organizing a sugar beet festival and for building an amusement park in the Finger Lakes; and his acquaintance with Francis Iaia, an Auburn businessman.
