Melvin Wilks began working at Muscogee Mills (later bought by Fieldcrest) in 1947. He worked in several mills for a total of over 40 years. During this time he did several different jobs, including doffing cloth, laying up filling, weaving, fixing looms, supervising, and inspecting looms.
