Henry Fisher was born in 1859 in Maquoketa, Iowa. About 1884 he came up the Missouri River by steamboat to Fort Benton, and settled in Helena. In 1890 he married a millinery shop owner and together they operated the business. He also opened a meat shop. Fisher served one term in the Montana legislature, and served many terms as a Helena city alderman. He was treasurer of the Retail Merchants Association of Montana.
