Charles A. Hausler papers, 1912-1954.

The collection contains watercolor renderings, sketches and photographs and tracings from Hausler's private practice, documenting more than 100 buildings, including civic and commercial structures, churches, residences, banks, hospitals and schools. Included are the St. Paul Temple of Aaron, the Faribault School for the Deaf, the Labor Temple in St. Paul and work for the Minnesota Building of St. Paul.

Charles Hausler was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He apprenticed with Louis Sullivan in Chicago. On his return to St. Paul in 1911, Hausler formed a partnership with William Alban (1911-1913), Percy Bentley (1914), and Ernest Hartford (1915-1916). Hausler was St. Paul's first City Architect (1914-1923) and designed many city buildings, some in the Prairie School style.
