Papers, 1911-1939.

Most of Chapman's papers, including correspondence with colleagues, are in the Division of Entomology and Economic Zoology papers. This collection comprises memorabilia and manuscripts, including his 1911 journal. Also included are photos of the French Association of Advancement of Science convention, Easter 1937, and a few travel photographs from trips to the Middle East and Europe. Of note are photographs of the Karl Haggenbeck Zoological Gardens, Germany, 1927.

Royal N. Chapman joined the University of Minnesota in 1916 and worked as Division Chief of Entomology and Economic Zoology from 1925 to 1930. In 1930, he became Experiment Station director of the Pineapple Producers Cooperative Association and Dean of the University of Hawaii Graduate School of Tropical Agriculture.
