Business and personal correspondence between members of the Timothy Dodd family of Hartford, Connecticut and Boston, Massachusetts, who often comment on the current political and economic climate. Of note is John Dodd's first hand account of the battle between the American frigate Constitution and the English frigate Java. Includes ship's papers for such vessels as the Schooner Nancy, Brig Vigilant, and the Brig Trident operated by George Dodd of Boston.
