Letters to Houghton, Mifflin & Co., 1896 December 9.

Perkins writes that he is returning the proof and requests a corrected proof. He has made the corrections indicated and explains how he has made them. He says it is probably not necessary to return the manuscript, and if the publisher no longer needs it, he will burn it. He explains his use of the term "toilet." There is a ms note from Houghton Mifflin saying "tell him he had better return it to us."].
