The collection consists primarily of letters from William Gillette to Amelia Watson, a Connecticut watercolor artist, from 1896 to the early 1930s about sketches that he purchased as well as personal matters. Other correspondence concern future performances and productions, news from friends and family, his home "Seventh Sister" in Hadlyme and his cabin "Thousand Pines" in Tryon, North Carolina, two scrapbooks of photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings and miscellany related to Gillette's love of cats and little children.
