W. Frye Colwill was the architect of many buildings and residences in Guelph including Torrance Public School (St. James Ward School), the city's Carnegie Library, and renovations to the Trader's Bank. His mother, Fanny Colwill Calvert, was a very active buisnesswoman in Guelph around the turn of the century.
