The Deaconess Banner/The Banner 1921-1987, 1992.

This series comprises issues of the Immanuel Deaconess Institute's (IDI) publication The Deaconess Banner and its successor's publication The Banner. First known as Diakoniss-Baneret, the issues in this series date from 1921-1987, with one copy dated1992. The series itself has three bound volumes and unbound individual issues. Each issue includes topical news articles about the work of the institute, as well as news of individual deaconesses and their work. Even though the periodical itself was not directly published by AUG 42, Immanuel Deaconess Motherhouse and Training School, it comprises a series in this collection because it was a publication that referred to and related to AUG 42. Archival records for the publication's creator, the Immanuel Deaconess Institute, are owned not by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, but Immanuel's successor Alegent Health, Inc., Omaha, Nebraska. Volumes 1 and 2 have issues numbered consecutively. Beginning with volume 3, issues are numbered within the volume and start over with the next volume. The series does not contain a complete run of issues and there are no issues in this series from 1988-1991. It was still published in 1992, but the name had reverted to Immanuel Banner. It is not known when the publication stopped production and there is no index available. The following issues are missing: Volume 47, number 1; Volume 48, number 1; Volume 50, number 1; Volume 55, number 1; Volume 57, May 1978; Volume 63, issue 1; Volume 65, issue 4; Volume 66, issues 2,4; Volumes 67-69; Volume 70, issues 1,2,4
