G.E. Raithby (OAC '22) joined the Department of Animal Husbandry in 1922, was lecturer, farm manager, assistant head, professor of animal husbandry and later dairy production, became Head in 1954, and retired in 1965. He was the first person nominated and accepted to become a Professor Emeritus at the University of Guelph in 1973.
