Papers, 1943-1955.

Papers (1943-1955) of Norman Thomas (1884-1968) relate to the Carlo Tresca Memorial Committee, of which he was chairman. A left-wing anti-fascist and editor of Il Martello, Tresca was murdered in 1943. The Memorial Committee published a pamphlet in 1945 discussing the case and demanding that the murder be solved. The collection includes pamphlet page proofs, press releases, newspaper clippings, and correspondence relating to the Tresca case.

Carlo Tresca (1879-1943), was an Italian-born anarchist, who emigrated to the United States in 1904. He was a labor organizer, including with the Industrial Workers of the World, a journalist, and editor, notably of Il Proletario, the official newspaper of the Italian Socialist Federation, and of Il Martello, an anti-fascist newspaper.
