William Lyon Mackenzie's mission to England in 1832-3, as the representative of the Reformers of Upper Canada, to urge on the British government a redress of grievances in the province. 1832- 1833.

Volumes consist of scrapbooks compiled by Mackenzie while he was in England. They contain clippings of letters to the editor written chiefly by or about W.L. Mackenzie, published in the Colonial Advocate, the Morning Chronicle, the True Sun, the York Courier, etc., with maginalia; also proceedings, debates and addresses from the Christian Guardian, and John Galt's replies to letters. Also includes 2 loose handwrittten letters to W.L. Mackenzie.

Son of Daniel and Elizabeth Mackenzie, was born at Springfield, Dundee, Scotland, Mar.12,1795. He came to Canada in 1820, where he became a shopkeeper in York, Dundee, and later Queenston. In 1824 he founded the Colonial Advocate, a political Journal. In 1828 he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada; expelled for "a libel constituting a breach of the privileges of this House" in 1831; re-elected and expelled five times. He was chief organizer of the rebellion of December, 1837 ...
