Donald Davis was born in 1938. He attended public school in Colorado and eventually achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Colorado State University, Fort Collins. Davis became an avid follower of Harvey Butchart and corresponded with him regularly since 1964. The correspondence continued until 1989.
