Thomas Connon, merchant and photographer was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Connon came to Canada in 1852. He invented the film roller in 1881. John R. Connon was the son of inventor and photographer T. Connon. Connon collaborated with his father throughout most of his life in their photography business.

Born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Connon came to Canada in 1852. He invented the film roller in 1881, but his idea was appropriated by an employer of a Toronto supply dealer to whom he had written proposing his idea. These ealier records concern his store in Elora, known as Connon and Henderson (1860-1861). Also includes family papers and accounts.
